On the Day of She Vanishes Review by John Diliberto (((Echoes))) radio

Getting all this support feels wonderful! You know that the life of a musician is limitless in some ways and very limited in others.
When we receive Recognition, we’ve been heard.
When we receive Respect, we have been Heard!
When we connect to others via these vibrations, called notes and tones, we have shared Love.
And that’s what’s most important. Especially in these tumultuous times.

This just in for the special 2 song Benefit Release CD of She Vanishes (expecting the whole CD later this month!)
“To say “thank you” to VickieRichards, Mitch Kopp and Jeff Dean for their exquisite offering “She Vanishes,” pales in comparison to the appreciation that I feel, or to the recognition these artists deserve for producing a masterpiece.
Although I am not a musician, I understand music. I understand that while listening to “She Vanishes” and my heart opens / I begin to cry … that I am witnessing the highest level of this art.
While listening to Ms. Richard’s Violin playing it was difficult to discern “if she was playing the Violin or the Violin was playing her”. A complete and beautiful merger of instruments …
Thank you,
Elise / New York

Terrific Night in Miami: double CD Release & Benefit for MSP Nov 21st
Nov 23, 2010 acoustic music, ambient music, General Comments, healing music, music for relaxation, radiation, relaxing music, violin guitar music, world fusion
What a night it was in Miami, Nov 21st! Miami String Project played “Rounds” which rocked the church! The energy and American nature I felt would also dovetail into Trailhead which has Aaron Copeland quotes. They were a very tough act to follow!
It takes such dedication to become a musician, and the years…so worth supporting!
With our trios, Jeff, Mitch & Jorge…always blissful and a joy. Friends, family, music ..what a great gathering under the auspices of CD Releases. Carmen Cecelia with lighted hoops, Ken’s photos….a grand evening. Peter & Mike recording & live engineers, children sprinkled in the audience. Klara, almost 100 years old came.
It Takes A Village to make all the music come together to get to audience ears.Thank you all for being in the Village!
(Somehow the Herald chose to not list our event & we didn’t miss out on a good word of mouth crowd.)
****Miriam has done amazing work in the community for our young string players.
Watch for the official release of She Vanishes in late Dec!

SOUND RELEASE
Violinist Vicki Richards returns to Miami to lead Benefit Concert for the Miami String Project
Violinist/Composer/Improviser Vicki Richards returns to South Florida with her very accomplished musicians to lead a CD Release/Benefit concert entitled “Sound Release” on November 21, 2010 at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 6:00pm. The event celebrates the culmination of 3 years of work in creating her ensemble’s newest album, “She Vanishes”, and proceeds will benefit the Miami String Project, Miami’s premier teen string ensemble.
Vicki’s new album, “She Vanishes”, to be released December 15th, 2010, includes Mitch Kopp (Guitars & Loops), Jorge Alfano (Multi instrumentalist including instruments from Japan and South America), and Jeff Deen (Tabla, Hand Percussion, and Hapi drum). Together they comprise two trios with two and more CDs available at the show. The music is mostly acoustic, with light effects and is truly a global fusion, ragesque, ambient, and inspiring.
Vicki’s music has been reviewed in The San Francisco Chronicle, The Jazz Times, Alternative Press, and Billboard’s Top 100 Progressive recordings. She will also be performing on WLRN Radio on the afternoon of Nov 14th on the Michael Stock show.
Jorge Alfano, leader of the “Mirage” trio, plays many different instruments from around the world, his specialty being flutes and stringed instruments. His passion for world music led him to work with great musicians of all traditions, and to study with great Masters. As a soloist, Jorge has recorded many albums of world music, both as a performer and a producer. His new album release is called Nectar (more information at www.jorgealfano.com). Mr. Alfano also recently performed for His Holiness the 14th DALAI LAMA of Tibet.
Helping the Miami String Project is especially important for Vicki because she first learned to play violin in a public school system, many of which are now cutting their Arts budgets. Music needs patronage these days and opportunities must be made to support our budding young musicians. To that end, a portion of the door receipts will be donated to the Miami String Project. Also, a small collection of Photos by Ken Pomerance, whose art is displayed on the cover of “She Vanishes”, will be on display at the concert.
Suggested donation will be $15 at the door. University student price will be $8 with their ID, and students under 18 will get in free.
Date: Nov 21st, 2010 Time: 6pm – 7:30pm Location: Unitarian Universalist Church Address: 7701 SW 76 Ave, South Miami, off Sunset Dr, just East of the Palmetto Expressway
Ensemble photos for “She Vanishes” by Elizabeth Russell

Ken will have a small collection of his photographs on display
