I’m 3 years out after Chemo…2 years from my last surgery and divorce. I’ve got a low key blog on vickirichards dot net. I’m a musician and have gone back to my hospital , used my post rehab arms, tingling neuropathetic (not pathetic : ) fingers to play for patients and staff. Music therapy in this way help me during and after. When my brain seemed to return and my strength and heart I just had to do this for the women coming after me—

It’s made for people in the process, sitting in the “suite” with the port open and flowing. Guided Imagery plus 3 tracks of supportive, ambient soothing music. I’ve given out 100 of these and wish I had the budget to get this into every Chemo Suite as an option to help your body accept the chemo as life giving rather than the toxic “Red Devil”.

I’ve got side effects sure, but a new life.

And am grateful. Humor is so useful! My Story was in the Kripalu Retreat Ctr Magazine as I went there, post everything, to recover with great organic food, gorgeous nature.

I’d like to know where “rehab/recovery” facilities are for those of us that had to go through alone? I needed more attention and could have literally died from lack of supervision, malnutrition, IF a great friend hadn’t stepped in.

Rally your troops, and your inner strength is there. A connection to something spiritual is so helpful. Find Beauty in 1 thing every day and know that the difficulties: “This too Shall Pass”.

Hunting for Audio Engineers

When looking for an audio engineer…. it’s hard to pick an audio engineer, even with recommendations.
So far, I’ve spoken with 2 engineers…basically now I’m longing for the comfort and familiarity of my engineer in FL. It’s like you’ve got to do the musical introductions all over again, then you don’t know until they hear your music whether they are going to be the person you want to be locked up with for long blocks of time in a very confined area.
I had a good conversation last night with the engineer that isn’t available until mid June…I’m more comfortable as we have played and worked together….good sensibilities & probably the best fit for the project. Do I hold out for this unavailable guy, I mean engineer? (It’s not Match.com but I’m hearing similar terms) Happens to be a male dominated field so it’s hard to not chuckle when I “interview” on the phone.
Doesn’t this sound like Match.com for musicians:

Me: ” Hi . I’m so & so and play this & that.”
Him: “What’s your format?”
Me: “I dunno..OMF &/or AAF”
Him: Pro Tools 8 or other?
Me: Yes we recorded with that in FL”
Him: Which one?
Me: I’ll find out. Are you available?
Both of us: Sometimes
Me: Have you worked within this genre I’m playing?
Him: Sure, Let’s Check our calendars
Me: “What kind of time blocks can you give me? Do you have a lot of projects currently?” How much do you charge?
Him: I’ve got time and space…it’s flexible. What are you used to paying….here’s my typical fee.”
Me: I’ll get back to you when I know the format
